Founded by   Nevzeta Pitic\, the organization aims to: \n  \n\nRaise awareness of the extreme poverty left in the wake of the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War\nUtilize the Boulder Mountain Repair facility for fixing unused jackets\nDeliver unused and repaired outdoor clothing to those in need\nRaise money to further help families who need basic necessities like food\, shelter and warm clothes\n\n  \nWe accept cash donations as well as clothing. Consider donating your used outdoor clothing in good condition\, or in need of repair.   In partnership with Boulder Mountain Repair\, SaveSarajevo will be equipped with repair facilities to handle things like zipper malfunctions\, tears or holes\, or velcro issues. Your donated jackets will be washed and repaired as necessary\, then shipped to our facility in Sarajevo BiH to be distributed to citizens our organization has discovered are in need. Cash donations are an enormous help with our overhead!  We have basic operating costs such as our rent of retail space in Sarajevo\, employee wages\, shipping cost\, repair and washing cost\, to name a few things.

Soon a movement was born engaging teachers\, students\, parents and the local community in a common purpose. \nThrough the efforts of many\, two initiatives have been developed: the School Food Project and the Garden to Table program. Thanks to school and community support children benefit from our Garden to Table program. This program includes individualized Pre-K through 5th grade standard based curriculum lesson plans for the schools to foster hands-on learning\, access and support to healthy eating habits\, and environment stewardship. Since 2006\, the Growe Foundation has been committed to using experiential gardens as a teaching tool to educate children about the benefits of healthy eating and environmental stewardship. Our vision is to unite people around a shared goal of creating healthier children\, schools\, communities and the planet.

DESCRIPTION:Be the first to celebrate 10 years of beer with us on Friday\, November 2nd at our Lee Hill tap room! \nMusic starts at 6:30pm\, Food truck will be on site serving food starting at 5pm. \nOur good friend and long-time regular\, Tom Miller\, will be debuting his Upslope Portrait Project from 4-7pm. \n  \nAbout the artist: \nTom has been drawing and painting all of his life. When he retired in 2015 he decided to learn the art of screen printing.  To learn the process of screen printing he decided to print portraits of individuals he has met at his favorite watering hole – Upslope. On view for one evening only will be portraits of over 100 friends of Tom. \nArtist Statement: \nThrough out my life from early childhood through my professional career I have always been drawing and painting. I have always loved “… taking a line for a walk” (Paul Klee)\, and putting colors on canvas. When I retired in the fall of 2015 I decided to learn the art of screen printing. Screen printing is a perfect medium to combine line\, color\, and make multiples of an image.     \n  \nUpslope Portrait Project: \nTo learn the process of screen printing I decided to print 10 portraits of individuals I have met at my favorite watering hole – Upslope.  At this point in time I have printed portraits of over 100 people. To say the least\, the Portrait Project taken on a life of its own. I have been using two different types of processes: CMYC (reproduces full-color artwork\, and Posterization (poster like reproductions having solid tones or colors and little detail from photograph).  The Upslope Portrait Project will continue as long as I keep visiting my favorite watering hole.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & EDUCATION\nMountain Flower creates experiential education modules to enable adult and youth to learn to see themselves not only as consumers\, but as important land stewards who are essential to ecological and animal health and wellness. Program participants engage in the basics of goat care – feeding alfalfa and grain\, providing clean water\, cleaning pens and composting waste. We also teach necessary skills for clean and humane food production to educate future farmers. \nIn concert with the growing national movement for local food\, ecological awareness\, and sustainable living\, Mountain Flower cultivates people’s connection to what nourishes us\, and in so doing ensures that people will protect and restore our local ecosystem for generations to come. \nIt is important to us that all members of the community have access to our programs. We welcome youth\, adults and seniors of all ages and abilities to visit the farm and meet the goats. We will design a curriculum for you\, or help you implement your own\, as long as it fits with our accommodations and schedule. \nThe safety and well-being of our guests and goats is always the highest priority\, so please talk to us before you plan activities for your visit to the dairy. \nWe keep our fees for hosting groups as low as we can\, but we understand that some people might stay away if finances are a challenge. Please don’t do that! Although we charge a minimal fee so we can keep the dairy going\, we will talk to you confidentially about participating in our programs regardless of your ability to pay. \n2. SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE & HUMANE HUSBANDRY\nTo steward the land and gently handle our herd in the production of humanely produced local goat dairy products for our neighbors and community\, restaurants and farmers’ markets and grocers. We teach our methods to others interested in learning humane animal husbandry. \n3. LAND CONSERVATION\nTo encourage the preservation and sustainable use of agricultural lands as a current and renewable source of food and feed and for their contribution to cultural\, environmental and economic diversity. It is our long-term vision to collaborate with the landowners\, other farmers\, the city\, our neighbors\, nonprofits and other stakeholders to permanently protect the last 25 acres of working community farmland in the Boulder City limits from subdivision and development.
