Tequila Barrel Aged Belgian Dark Strong Ale!

Known around the brewery as the President’s Beer, our Founder Matt Cutter teamed up with our barrel-aging expert to create this innovative brew. The dreamchild of an experimental brewer and a brewer who had lost his way, this unique Belgian-style Dark Strong Ale has ancestral roots in a Belgian Abbey, a Texas distillery, and a Boulder brewer’s playground. Weighing in at 11.3% ABV but smooth as a baby’s bottom, our BDSA imparts complex flavors of raisin, fig, dark cherries and yes, a little oak and tequila. Once we got the “thumbs up” on the shipment of cabernet barrels turned tequila barrels from Dulce Vida Spirits in Austin, Texas, we knew that this beer had found a good home.
