SUMMARY:Boulder Hafla; Live Music & Open Dancing
DESCRIPTION:Tribe Nawaar is partnering with their friends\, Alexandria Ensemble\, to bring the joy of a Middle Eastern Hafla and the fun of belly dancing to live music to the Upslope Brewery on Flatiron Court in Boulder on Saturday October 20 from 4-7pm. \nAll levels of musicians are welcome to join in the music making jam so bring your instruments and fun loving attitude. All levels of dancers from any style of dance are encouraged to get up and dance\, whether in costume or not. \nWhat:\nA hafla with live music. What is a hafla you ask? ‘Hafla’ comes from the Arabic meaning get-together\, party\, or ceremony. Outside of Arabic-speaking countries it began to be used to refer to a gathering of belly dancers performing casually to live or recorded music. \nThis hafla is hosted by\, Tribe Nawaar\, a Boulder-based tribal belly dance company and costume shop\, in collaboration with some of our friends from the Alexandria Ensemble of Fort Collins. We welcome musicians and dancers from other styles to join us in this fun and free event. This is definitely and inclusive event so come one\, come all and let’s show Boulder how to hafla! \nWhen:\nSaturday October 20\, 2018 from 4-7pm \nWhere:\nUpslope Brewery\, Flatiron Park\n1898 S Flatiron Ct\nBoulder\, CO 80301 \nWho:\nAll levels of musicians\, any style and skill level of belly dancer and all lively audience members are welcome to join in the fun! \nMusicians: bring your favorite instrument to jam along with our friends from the Alexandria Ensemble. They are a fun and inclusive group based out of Fort Collins and they welcome all to join in the drum circle. \nDancers: come dressed to impress or in casual street wear\, but\, come to DANCE! No formal sets\, just open dancing to live music for as much or as little of the hafla as you want. It’s all about having a good time.. invite your friends\, too!
