This year’s Backcountry Tap Room will be on the Mary Jane side of Winter Park Resort.
GETTING THERE: Use the following address for the parking and check-in area. We suggest carpooling – it’s more fun and better for the planet!
Winter Park Resort
Utah Junction Parking Lot
2110 Mary Jane Rd*
Winter Park, CO 80482
*Do NOT go to the Mary Jane Base, but follow signs to the Utah Junction Parking Lot instead! Once that Utah Junction Lot is full, there is parking permitted along the street and our overflow lot in the Corona Lot.
PARKING: Enter the resort through the Mary Jane entrance of Winter Park Resort by turning onto Mary Jane Road from US-40. Check-in and the trailhead of the hike will be located at the Utah Junction parking lot, known affectionately to locals as ‘C Lot’. Parking will be available in the Utah Junction lot, Corona lot (overflow), Rollins Pass lot, and along the road as needed. PLEASE CARPOOL!
The Corona Siding Lot is the first parking lot on the left as you drive down Mary Jane Road from US HWY 40 (this will be an overflow lot once Utah Junction is full; there will be a full service Check-in here). Parking is free. See map below.
THE HIKE: The hike this year will begin from the Utah Junction lot or the Corona Lot (overflow lot) on the Mary Jane side of the mountain. Guests will then hike up Corona Way for approximately 1.4 miles from the Utah Junction lot (or 1 mile from the Corona Lot) with an elevation gain of about 800 feet, until you get to the picturesque location nearby the base of the Panoramic and Sunnyside lifts.
*NOTE: This is the same location as last year at Winter Park Resort on the Mary Jane side. There is NO gondola aspect to this year’s event, and there will be two parking lot options with full service check-ins. Utah Junction will be the first lot filled and checked in; Corona Lot & street parking will be for overflow.
> Strollers/ADA accessibility: This year’s route is the Corona Way trail. It is a loose gravel 4×4 road up the entire way. Once at the top of the event, however, some of the bar locations will not be accessible with strollers/wheelchairs.
> Proper footwear is highly advised, especially if you have ankle issues! The event location at the top has rugged terrain and can be steep and rocky in places.

Are dogs allowed?
Of course! Please just remember to pick up after your pup and properly dispose of your pet’s waste. Do not leave any bags on the trail to “pick up later”.
Is this a green event?
Yep! We’re working with Leave No Trace to leave the great outdoors greater than we found it! Please be aware of our zero waste efforts and familiarize yourself with our waste stations. There will be recycling and compost bins along with waste/landfill bags. Please also feel free to pack it in, pack it out – let’s LEAVE NO TRACE!
DOG WASTE: All pet waste will need to go in the Landfill/Waste containers and/or specially marked Dog Waste Bins along the trail. Leave No Trace will have bags available at Check-in.
Please do not leave any bags on the trail to “pick up later”.
Will there be music?
Steepland String Band will be playing acoustic sets throughout the event!
Important Things to Remember:
- Be sure to bring a valid ID with proof of your ticket on your phone or a print-out. *TIP: Take a photo/screenshot of your ticket from your email, as wi-fi may not be reliable upon check-in.
- REMINDER: We love and appreciate our designated drivers, but due to the limited space of the event implemented by the county, non-drinkers do have to buy a ticket. This allows us to monitor attendees, and ensure that we’re able to raise money for Leave No Trace.
- No overnight camping – event ends at 5:00 pm with the bars closing promptly at 4:30 pm.
- No smoking.
- Furry friends are welcome, but MUST be on a leash at all times. Please make sure to pick-up after your pup! Do not leave bags on the trail – look out for special dog waste bins or landfill containers. DO NOT put dog waste in compost bins, please.
- Please be mindful of wildlife in the area and be sure to exercise Leave No Trace principles (pack it in, pack it out!).
- NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL. Alcohol consumption is permitted in designated event areas marked by the Backcountry Tap Room bar and should not extend on to trails.
- Bring water! We will have a limited amount on-site for your water bottles.
- No refunds. Event is rain, snow or shine (check the weather and plan for it all – come prepared!). Weather will be continuously monitored, as the safety of our guests is paramount. If lightning and thunderstorms are in the area, the event may be shut down or paused for safety – an announcement will be made asking all guests to head down the mountain (event is not above tree line).
