2026 Backcountry Tap Room FAQ 1024 427 Upslope Brewing

Upslope Backcountry Tap Room, Winter Park Resort, September 12, 2026

The 11th Annual Backcountry Tap Room will be at Wild Spur, Winter Park Resort, a new, more remote on-mountain location. Unlike past years, there is no option to hike up from the base and bypass the gondola; the gondola is required for every guest.

Getting There

Wild Spur, Winter Park Resort. Take the gondola up, then hike ~3 miles round trip to the tap room. There is no vehicle access and no walk-up option from the base; the gondola is required for every guest.

The Hike

Head to the tap room by way of marked trails (Lower Roof of the Rockies Trail). You’ll take the scenic gondola to the top and hike ~3 miles round trip to the tap room and back. Want more mileage? Take the optional Fantasy Meadows Loop, extending the route to ~5.2 miles. Your ticket includes the gondola ride.

Strollers: Portions of the trail are narrow, singletrack-style with roots and rocks, making it difficult to navigate with a stroller. We do not recommend strollers for this hike.

What beverages will be served?

ON TAP:

  • Upslope Craft Lager
  • Upslope Mary Jane Ale
  • Upslope Oktoberfest
  • Upslope Blackberry Lemon Sour
  • Snowmelt Hard Seltzer
  • Stem Ciders Off-Dry
  • Rotating seasonal cider

NEW THIS YEAR: Be the first to try the NEW Fast + Light Series IPA, a hoppy 2.8% ABV IPA brewed to keep the pace on or off the trail.

Are dogs allowed?

Of course! All dogs must be on leash at all times. Please remember to pick up after your pup and properly dispose of your pet’s waste.

Is this a green event?

Yep! We’re working with Leave No Trace to leave the great outdoors greater than we found it. Please be aware of our zero waste efforts and familiarize yourself with our waste stations. Please pack it in, pack it out.

Important Things to Remember

  • Be sure to bring a valid ID with proof of your ticket on your phone or a print-out. TIP: Take a photo/screenshot of your ticket from your email, as wi-fi may not be reliable upon check-in.
  • We love and appreciate our designated drivers, but non-drinkers do have to buy a ticket. This allows us to monitor attendees and ensure we’re able to raise money for Leave No Trace.
  • No overnight camping: event ends at 5:00 pm.
  • No smoking.
  • Furry friends are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times. Please make sure to pick up after your pup.
  • Please be mindful of wildlife in the area and exercise Leave No Trace principles (pack it in, pack it out!).
  • NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL. Alcohol consumption is permitted in designated event areas marked by the Backcountry Tap Room bar and should not extend on to trails.
  • Bring water! We will have a limited amount on-site for your water bottles.
  • No refunds. Event is rain, snow or shine (check the weather and plan for it all, come prepared!). Weather will be continuously monitored, as the safety of our guests is paramount. If lightning and thunderstorms are in the area, the event may be shut down or paused for safety, an announcement will be made asking all guests to head down the mountain (event is not above tree line).
